ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

In addition to “turning empty houses into homes” for nearly 3,600 local families annually MAP Furniture Bank recycles 35,000 cubic yards of furniture each year.  That’s the equivalent of 305 semi-trailers packed full of furniture or the amount of waste Franklin County puts in the landfill in a week and a half!

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) recognized MAP Furniture Bank in 2007 as a recipient of the Emerald Award for Partnership, an award that celebrates the work we do to connect the community.  MAP Furniture Bank picks up furniture from nearly 40 local residents every day and various local institutions.  The furniture is then distributed to local families with the help of 200 local social service organizations, essentially recycling the furniture back into the community.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

MAP Furniture Bank’s work benefits all parties involved.  MAP picks up unwanted furniture from local residents for FREE, distributes that furniture to families in desperate need of furnishings and keeps solid waste out of local landfills.  MAP is a community project and we rely on the donations and support of our neighbors to slow landfill growth and help those in need.  Click here to learn more about how MAP works in the community: About MAP.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We need your support to continue our work in central Ohio.  We estimate that there is three times as much furniture to collect, but we do not have the funding to reach it all.  For $200 we can pick up about a dozen pieces of furniture and recycle them into the home of a deserving family.  Or, to schedule your FREE pickup for donated furniture, call (614) 272-9544.

Please, help us slow landfill growth and “turn empty houses into homes” for our neighbors in need.
