Volunteer to Give the Gift of Home!

You can help MAP support local families in need! Volunteer activities include helping in the office with clerical duties, collecting and distributing furniture, working in the warehouse, assembling furniture, and serving on one of MAP’s three organizational committees. Volunteers are also important contributors for all of the furniture bank’s fundraising events.

Daily Needs:

Client Showroom Volunteer

Volunteers in this position help in the warehouse. Responsibilities include sorting donated items, organizing housewares, and helping clients select dishes, cookware, and linens.

Truck Companion

This volunteer aids MAP warehouse staff with pickups of donated furniture and delivery of client furniture. Volunteer must have ability to lift 50 pounds and commit at least four hours at a time.

Office Volunteer

Office volunteers help by making phone calls to confirm scheduled furniture pick-ups, and place “thank you” calls to furniture donors. Office volunteers also help with the writing of thank you notes and the preparation of donor packets. Volunteers interested in serving in this capacity should have legible handwriting and good communication skills.

Workshop Volunteer

This volunteer helps salvage furniture that needs repair. Volunteer must have experience mending furniture and good problem-solving skills.

Special Event Volunteers

Volunteers in this position help with our semi-annual furniture auctions, our Big Heart’s Gala and the Red Chair Art Affair. Contact Joanne Spoth to see which event is on the horizon!

Group Projects/Team Building Activities

Due to a generous donation by Sauder Woodworking, MAP Furniture Bank offers a unique volunteer opportunity for various groups to embark on a team-building activity: work together to assemble dresser kits so that the families who visit the furniture bank can have a brand new dresser to call their very own. Groups from local corporations, churches or civic groups can arrange to volunteer together. MAP can accommodate group sizes up to 30 individuals.
